Speaking of Dubious Lace Fronts…

Britney Spears Cover of Lucky

Check out Britney on the cover of Lucky magazine sporting a very obvious and badly styled, lace front wig. Britney fans were not too pleased about the pics, causing Lucky to issue this apology via twitter:

We’ll forgive you this time, but please, ladies, leave the lace front wearing to the pros!

This Week’s Top Celebrity Hair Makeovers

Our pick for the week’s top celebrity hair makeovers.

Our favorite dysfunctional redhead is donning a short brunette wig these days for her upcoming role as the ever stylish Elizabeth Taylor in the TV movie Liz & Dick. The short dark look is definitely working for Lindsay.

January Jones is looking more and more like her Mad Men co-star Joan( Christina Hendricks) these days and I approve. The longer layers soften her face and the ginger red tone looks completely natural with her fair skin.

Julian Hough wearing a battered brunette wig for her role as a housewife in the latest Nicholas Sparks flick Safe Haven. I can’t say I like that wig on her but I do like seeing her in darker hues.

The Anatomy of Jennifer Lawrence’s Updo

Otherwise known as “Volunteer as tribute? With THIS hair?”

Jennifer Lawrence is definitely my new hair icon! The braids, the bangs, the updos! The girl goes from tomboy to Hollywood glam effortlessly! And how gorgeous was her gold braided updo at the Hunger Games premier? It sent me digging through my jewelry box for gold chains.

How to get Jennifer Lawrence’s updo: Getting her look is actually quite simple. It’s really the gold embellishments that make it look so much more intricate than it really isJennifer is using two gold beaded headbands woven into her braids. You can actually just use two gold rope chains.

Start by gathering your hair into a low ponytail and secure it with a hair tie. Gather the chain with your hair and braid your hair neatly. Tie the ends with a rubber band. Go back and widen the braid by tugging each side slightly. From there, you’re just doing a simple wrap-around. Wrap your braid around your ponytail (Princess Leia Style) and secure it with bobby pins. Now take your other chain and wrap that around the outer perimeter.

Voila! Simple, right? I know… Please feel free to tell me what a genius I am for dissecting this one. 😉

Fringe Benefits: Choosing the Right Bangs for Your Face

Bangs have definitely made a comeback this year, and it’s looking as if this trend might be here to stay. Whether you have a round face or a long face, the right bangs can compliment anyone. It’s a relatively simple way to give your face a complete makeover.

Zelo’s got the guide to help you choose the right bangs for you.

I think one of the most striking celebrity bang transitions this year is Leighton Meester’s blunt bang. Blunt or Chinese bangs work for her because of her round face. The harsh line of bangs across her forehead creates a theme of angles on her otherwise round face. It brings out her amazing cheek bones and, overall, makes her face look longer and slimmer.

Taylor swift has definitely found the perfect bangs for her oval face. The much softer fringe (above), narrower at the forehead and sweeping downward softly around the eyes, is a vast improvement over her blunt bangs (left), which actually made her face look much longer than it actually is. If you have a long face, try to stay away from any blunt styles that chop your face in half. Go for these subtle, layered fringes instead.

Chinese bangs look better on fuller faces like Leighton or square faces like Lea Micheal.

Heart Shaped faces like Rihanna’s have wider foreheads and a very narrow chin. Full blunt bangs like the style above(left) look beautiful on her but draw attention to the width of her forhead. A side swept look balances her face much better.

Whatever style you chose, the fringes are a sure way to give your hair a sexy, edgier look.

The Best “Tress-ed” at the AMAs: You Decide

Property of ABC

Who watched the American Music Awards last night? Me neither. Hands up if you only stick around for the red carpet before these shows!

I can’t tell you who won, but what I can tell you is: the hair was ultra sleek with with air of old Hollywood glam last night. Stars like Selena Gomez and Jenny McCarthy rocked big sculpted curls while Taylor Swift went for the sleek side-ponytail. Although, I must say her ends did look a bit wild. A touch of Zelo keratin would have gone a long way for this look, but it definitely had potential.

One thing’s for sure, the One-sided look was definitely in full effect last night.

Celebrity Hairstyles: Zoe Saldana

Zoe Saldana has not yet reached recognition as a household name as an actress quite yet, but she sure has hit headlines quite a lot lately since her slight drop off in on-screen appearances since her role in Avatar. Why, might you ask? Well, take a look at any of the many glamorous paparazzi shots of the lovely starlet and you’ll see why. She always looks fabulous and perfectly put together from head to toe and oh! That hair!

Do you share our jealousy of the gorgeous Zoe?

Would You Wear It? Half-Shaved Hair Styles

Every time I see a starlet head down the red carpet with one of these shaved, asymmetrical hairstyles, I wish I had the guts to pull something like this off with my hair. I have seen a lot of gals in real life going for a half-shaved look as well, so this is not just for the rich and famous.

I gotta ask, would you ever wear it? Or is this style best left to punk rockers and rebellious teens?
